DIY Floral Balloon Garland for Your Holiday Parties
The holiday season gives us an excuse to show off our creativity and hosting skills. It’s a time to get adventurous with new recipes and unique decor. For the perfect holiday decor, try creating a floral balloon garland for your entryway or photobooth.
Balloons are an easy and inexpensive way to decorate your home and give it a festive feel. Balloons can also be incorporated in many ways. From single brightly colored accents to dramatic balloon arches, there are plenty of styles to choose from.
One easy way to dress up a balloon is by making a floral balloon garland. A large balloon can be decorated with your favorite flowers to create a stunning display. To help you get started, we have created three DIY floral balloon garlands for you to try out this season.
Christmas Balloon Garland
Bring the holiday cheer into your home with a Christmas balloon garland. Pine needles can be used to decorate your whole home, from a wreath on the front door to your Christmas centerpiece. Why not tie the space together with a pine needle balloon garland as well?
Materials:
36” turquoise balloon
Ribbon
Red carnations
Pine needle branches
Floral tape
Step 1: Fill the balloon with helium and attach a ribbon.
Be sure the balloon is completely filled with helium. The pine needles can get heavy and will weigh down the balloon if it’s not filled completely.
Step 2: Create a garland by using the floral tape to attach the carnations to the greenery.
If the pine needle branches aren’t long enough, connect multiple branches together with the floral tape. Then attach a few of the carnations or your favorite red flower.
Step 3: Tape the garland to the ribbon with floral tape.
Use the floral tape to secure the garland to the ribbon. It’s best to tape it in a few places to ensure it will last the whole event.
Step 4: Display at your event!
Display you balloon decor for all your guest’s to admire. This easy DIY touch will be sure to impress all who see it.
New Years Balloon Garland
Are you ringing in the new year with a New Year’s Eve party? Amplify the atmosphere with a festive New Year’s balloon garland. The fun design is easy to create and will transform the room in an instant.
Materials:
36” black balloon
Gold metal flakes
Decoupage
Foam brush
Ribbon
Baby’s breath
Seeded eucalyptus branches
Floral tape
Step 1: Fill the balloon with helium and attach a ribbon.
Be sure the balloon is completely filled with helium so that the flowers don’t weigh it down. The color of the ribbon doesn’t matter because it will be covered with greenery and flowers.
Step 2: Paint on decoupage and attach the gold foil.
Create a pattern by painting decoupage onto the balloon with a foam brush. If the pattern is large, it’s best to paint it in parts so that the decoupage doesn’t dry. Once you paint on the decoupage, use your fingers to adhere the gold metal flakes to the glue.
Step 3: Create a garland by attaching the flowers to the greenery with floral tape.
If the seeded eucalyptus branches aren’t as long as you’d like, attach a few together with floral tape. Then, add on the white flowers. For an elegant addition, add gold foil to some of the eucalyptus leaves.
Step 4: Attach the garland to the ribbon with floral tape
Secure the garland in a few places to assure it stays in place.
Step 5: Display at your New Year’s event!
Try adding this balloon garland to a location where people will gather such as the drink table. This way your guests will have a chance to admire your work.
Classic Balloon Garland
For an evergreen look that will work for any occasion, try creating a classic balloon garland. This decor can be adjusted based on the theme and color scheme of your event. Whether you are hosting a baby shower or bridal shower, this balloon garland will be a creative and unique look.
Materials:
36” white balloon
Ribbon
Acrylic paint
Paint brush
Spray roses
Eucalyptus
Floral tape
Step 1: Fill the balloon with helium and attach a ribbon.
Fill the balloon completely with helium. Adjust the color of the balloon and ribbon based on your event’s color scheme.
Step 2: Paint the bottom of the balloon with acrylic paint.
Hold the knot of the balloon tightly in your hand. Paint the balloon, starting at the base and working your way up. How little or how much of the balloon you want to paint is up to you.
Step 3: Attach the flowers to greenery with floral tape.
While the paint is drying, create the floral garland. Attach pieces of eucalyptus together with floral tape and then add the roses. It’s best to use a type of rose that is on the smaller side so the balloon is not weighed down.
Step 4: Attach the garland to the ribbon with floral tape.
Wrap floral tape around the garland and ribbon until it is secure. It’s best to tape in multiple spots along the ribbon.
Step 5: Add to your event decor!
Display your beautiful floral garland in a spot where all can see. You can also try making a few and use them as photobooth backdrops!
DIY floral balloon garlands are a fun way to elevate any party, no matter the occasion. They are also easy to personalize by choosing colorful balloons, adding your favorite type of greenery and dressing them up with a beautiful flower arrangement.
